Donald Trump was rushed from the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner after loud bangs triggered a sudden Secret Service response at the Washington Hilton. The Trump security scare immediately turned a formal media dinner into a lockdown scene, with the president and first lady Melania Trump escorted out as agents moved across the ballroom.

The incident unfolded Saturday night in Washington as guests heard several loud bangs inside the hotel. Hundreds of attendees took cover under tables, while Secret Service officers in tactical gear entered the dining room. Reuters noted that about 2,600 people were at the event, and a White House aide said Trump was safe after the evacuation.

The clearest late update is that the suspect was apprehended, not confirmed killed. Trump later said, “The shooter has been apprehended,” while praising law enforcement for acting quickly. That detail matters because early online posts framed the incident as a fatal shooting, while the latest public line pointed to a suspect in custody.

The dinner was expected to resume after the disruption, but the political symbolism was already fixed. A room built for jokes, access, and Washington ritual became a reminder that presidential security can overwhelm ceremony in seconds.
